A 2017 Mustang, 727 HP, A Warranty, All For $40K

Ohio dealership offering budget muscle cars with a warranty

If you want a 700+ horsepower muscle car, it is going to cost you between $60 and $80,000. However, Lebanon Ford, an Ohio Ford dealership thinks that that is too much money and is doing something about it. Lebanon Ford is offering brand new Ford Mustang muscle cars producing 727 horsepower starting at $39,995.

The team at Lebanon Ford starts with a Ford Mustang GT with a 435 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine and adds a Roush stage 2 supercharger. The result is 727 horsepower. For comparison, the 2017 Shelby GT350 produces 526 horsepower and is priced starting at $54,295. The Dodge Hellcat produces 707 horsepower and is priced starting at the $62,000 mark. Like the Lebanon Ford budget muscle car, the GT350 and the Hellcat are both turbocharged.

Like any business, Lebanon Ford is looking to make a profit on every car it sells, albeit a small profit.   The dealer is focusing on quantity rather than a large markup for each and every high-performance muscle car it sells. Roush parts manager Charlie Watson says “when looking at enthusiasts on a nationwide basis rather then big profits for each car the economics make sense.”

The dealer starts with Ford Mustang GT at a cost of $32,395. They then add $7,550 from the Roush parts bin and add a little labor costs and the results come in at a bit less than $40,000 and that includes a small profit on each car.

Parts manager Charlie Watson says that most cars end up delivered to their new owners priced between $45 and $50,000, with some even costing $60,000. The reason is that many buyers will often add additional parts such as custom wheels, bigger brakes, body kits, or stronger half shafts, raising the final price of the vehicle.

In my book, a 2017 Ford Mustang, 727 horsepower, and a 3-year 30,000 mile warranty, all for less than $40,0000 is a huge win in my book.
