Amazing BMW M4 GTS Heard Lapping the Nurburgring

Not one but two BMW M4 GTS’ seen lapping the Nurburgring in all of their glory – (VIDEO)

The BMW M4 GTS is no doubt an amazing machine. We have all seen pictures and video of what it looks like. Cvdzjden posted a video to his channel of not one but two BMW M4 GTS’ making the laps at the Nurburgring.

In the video, we see the glimpses of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe running between a pair of GTS’. This leads me to wonder if the GTS’ are working as escorts to the Gran Coupe or whether functioning as benchmarks to the prototype 2-Series.

BMW introduced the M4 GTS concept at the Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance on August 2015. Limited to just 700 units, it is a track-based version of the regular BMW M4 Coupe.

Difference between the M4 GTS and M4

There are several differences between the M4 GTS and regular M4. Even though they both share the 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine, the GTS produces 493 horsepower compared to 425 horsepower for the standard model.   In addition to engine output, the GTS is 60 pounds lighter than the standard M4 coupe with the DCT transmission. As a result, the total weight is 3,330 pounds.

The M4 GTS carries over some exterior and interior modifications as well compared to the standard M4. Since it is a track-oriented version, there is a roll bar where the back seat would be.   Exterior modifications consist of a carbon fiber hood with a large vent, as well as a front splitter and rear wing that are both manually adjustable.

The more powerful engine and reduced weight of the M4 GTS result in considerable performance gains. The GTS can rocket from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds accelerating all the way through to 190 miles per hour. According to BMW, the M4 GTS has lapped the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 28 seconds. This is 20 seconds faster than the M3 GTS and the same time as the Porsche Carrera GT.

BMW M4 GTS water injection system

Another big difference between the M4 GTS and the standard GTS is a water-injection system. This technology cools down the intake temperature allowing a higher compression ration or increased turbocharger boost for more power. This feature is largely responsible for the difference of almost 70 horsepower between the M4 GTS and regular M4.

The M4 GTS costs $135,000 and is limited to just 700 units. It will also be available for sale in the United States. There was also a BMW M3 GTS made using the F92 chassis. This vehicle was limited to just 150 units and was not sold in the United States.
