Lexus releases a video for the Lexus LC500. We finally get to hear what the car sounds like
Lexus unveiled the production version of its upcoming Lexus LC500 earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show. The Lexus LC will be available in two engine configurations, a hybrid V6 configuration and a V8. The V8 engine is the same one used in the F-series cars.
The automaker’s German arm has been kind enough to release a video complete with soundtrack about the upcoming LC 500. This is our first opportunity to hear the new Lexus V8 and I will be the first to say, it was worth it.
Lexus LC 500 engine details
As previously stated, the LC 500 will be offered as a gasoline-electric hybrid (LC 500h) and a standard gas model when it goes on sale as a 2018 model. The LC 500 will use the 5.0-liter V8 that powers the RC F and GS F. It is rated at 467 horsepower and 389 feet-pounds of torque.
The sound of the V8 engine in the LC 500 on the video is amazing. It sounds better than the same engine in either the RC F or GS F. The engineering wizards at Lexus may have just done something to optimize the aural qualities of the engine.
The fact that Lexus added a high –end luxury sports coupe to its lineup is really no surprise. It fills the void in the Lexus line-up for a high-end luxury coupe priced at over $100K that was created by the completion of allocated LFAs. Truth be told, the Lexus LFA was in fact a tried-and-true supercar.
It is worth noting that many technologies that went into the Lexus LFA are making their way into the LC 500. As it is, many technologies introduced with the LFA are making their way into the entire Lexus line-up.
