Iconic Shelby GT-H Available for Rent as part of rent-a-racer program
Shelby unveiled the new GT-H at the most recent New York Auto Show just a few months ago. This is the third time that Ford has partnered with the rental car company, to create the GT-H. The first time was in 1966 and again in 2006. When is the Shelby GT-H available for rent, you ask?
Fortunately, they are available for rent at 17 selected airport locations starting this weekend. Unfortunately, if you want to buy a GT-H, that is not possible, now or at any other time. The only way you can get it is by renting it from Hertz Rent A Car.
Built by Ford in partnership with Shelby American, the 5.0-liter V8 engine puts out 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, the same as the standard Ford Mustang GT. However, the GT-H differs from the GT in several ways including a cat-back exhaust, upgraded suspension, 19-inch alloys, special livery and enhanced bodywork.
The rental-only Shelby GT-H has several body parts that make it stand apart from other Mustangs. It features a vented hood, front spoiler, and rear spoiler made of carbon fiber.. It is painted black with gold racing stripes and special badges throughout the inside and outside of the vehicle.
The Ford Shelby G-H will be part of Hertz’ Adrenaline Collection starting this Memorial Day weekend at 17 airport locations around the United States. In addition to the GT-H, several other examples of American muscle cars are available including Camaros, Challengers, and Corvettes.
The Prestige Collection offers Mercedes SLKs and Infiniti crossovers and the Dream Collection makes Porsches, Jaguars and BMWs available for rental. While they are all much more exciting than the typical rental Toyota Corolla or Impala, they will also cost considerably more to drive.
