Magnus Walker releases a new video documenting his drive on the streets of Miami in a Porsche 911 at dusk – (VIDEO)
Perhaps the most famous Porsche fan in the World has a new video out. Magnus Walker drives a custom Porsche 911SC from the 1980’s through the streets of Miami at dusk.
Magnus Walker, the most famous Porsche fan
At a time when most kids were being introduced to Star Wars, Magnus Walker was introduced to Porsche in the form of a Porsche Turbo decked out in Martini garb. The event was the London Auto Show. So powerful was the encounter that it would form the basis of a life-long love affair.
Magnus was very much the accidental entrepreneur. A couple of successful businesses after many years of work enabled him to finally purchase his dream car, a 1974 Porsche 911. The car met all of his expectations from his childhood. Within a few years, he sold all of his vehicles that were not Porsches and went about putting together his collection of early Porsche 911s.
As Magnus’ collection of Porsche’s grew, so did his notoriety as a sort of ‘anti-tuner’ Porsche collector. When a fellow Porsche fan approached him about doing a short movie about his love of Porsches, his reputation as a big Porsche fan was cemented. Over the years, Magnus has become a brand ambassador of sorts for Porsche going wherever needed to present the brand in a positive light.
The Porsche 911 in the 1980s
I can remember seeing used Porsche 911s from the 1980s selling for around $10,000. Nowadays, the same car is selling for three to four times that. The collector car market for the Porsche 911 has exploded over the past several years.
Porsche Turbos routinely sell for upwards of $100,000, with many for selling even more.
The Porsche in the video has been modified slightly. It is lowered, has a custom exhaust system and a roll cage. However, the rear deck lid is missing.
The camera work in the video is very nicely done. It grabs the essence of what it is to drive the iconic vehicle.
Sit back, turn up the volume as the engine sounds fabulous, and enjoy.
