This time, we capture the vehicle moving and hear the delicious rumble of the engine
BMW is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year. To commemorate the occasion, they have released several concept vehicles with some paying homage to legendary vehicles from days gone by to design exercises looking at automobiles 100 years into the future.
Arguably, one of the most beautiful concepts has been the BMW 2002 Turbo homage that was unveiled for the first time at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este earlier in the year. The vehicle is making a second appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance sporting a completely new livery.
Repainted in the livery of the Jagermeister Company, the BMW 2002 Turbo Hommage is painted orange with black front and rear hoods and beltline.
A German brewer, Jagermeister developed an association with automobile racing by sponsoring several European racing teams, primarily racing Porsches and BMWs starting in the 1970s. These teams have competed in Formula One, DTM, DRM, and Group C. The result of their sponsorships is that the brand is one of the most recognized in motorsports. This was validated when an article in the January 31, 2008 edition of Autosport listed it as one the twenty most iconic commercial color schemes.
The BMW 2002 Turbo Hommage Jagermeister Livery
The BMW 2002 Turbo Hommage was based off of the M2. I would interpret that to mean that the vehicle moves and drives. This is something that we are indeed able to confirm in the video below. Footage is provided of the vehicle making its way up to a display area. While it would have been nice to see the vehicle driven as it was intended, it was nice to hear the incredible roar of the engine. This is something I never tire of doing.
Hats off to Jeroen for the footage. I would love to see a production vehicle based on the BMW 2002 Turbo Hommage someday. Having owned two BMW 2002s in my lifetime, I would love to someday own another one or its modern day equivalent.
I am sure that there are many other men in my age group who feel the same way about the BMW 2002 Turbo Hommage.
