Upcoming Bentley Sports Car to be Called The Barnato

Bentley Barnato sports car to be named after one of the original Bentley Boys of the 1920s

Bentley has had great success with their Bentley Continental GT four-seat super-coupe. It was just a matter of time before they came out with a two-seat super-coupe as it has been rumored that the British car manufacturer has been considering the idea for some time.

Bentley executives have also confirmed that the upcoming vehicle will be based on the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept. Nothing else is known about the vehicle other than Auto Express magazine is reporting that the vehicle will be called the Barnatto.

Woolf “Babe” Barnato was a British financier, racing driver, and Wing Commander with the Royal Air Force. He was one of the original Bentley Boys of the 1920’s. He also has quite the extensive racing history as he won three entries in the 24-hours of Le Mans Race. Babe is also known for putting forth some pretty outrageous wagers challenging other vehicles and people to long distance races across the English countryside.

The Le Mans racing pedigree alone makes the ‘Barnato’ name worthy for such a future Bentley vehicle.

The upcoming Bentley will be strictly a two-seater, which will be offered alongside the Continental GT. There is also speculation of an electric version.

Also worthy of note is that Bentley could be considering a second, smaller SUV considering the success and popularity of the Bentley Bentayga.
