Released in 2013, the current generation Quattroporte receives a mid-cycle update with the 2017 Maserati Quattroporte
The current generation Maserati Quattroporte was released in 2013. Just three years later, Maserati has extensively refreshed the range-topping four-door sedan with a mid-cycle refresh to the 2017 Maserati Quattroporte.
Like the Ghibli, the Quattroporte was a controversial vehicle with many features that were not to well received by reviewers and the public alike.
This mid-cycle refresh addresses some controversial features from the current generation Quattroporte. Changes include new bumpers with an electronically adjustable air shutter in the front grille, designed to facilitate improved engine cooling.
Much of the emphasis in the Quattroporte’s mid-cycle refresh was in the interior of the vehicle. The controversy stemmed from an interior not conducive to a $100,000 automobile. In other words, features and materials that would expected in a vehicle having a much lower price-point, rather than in the premium price segment.
New for 2017 is an 8.4-inch infotainment screen that one would expect to find in a vehicle of the Quattroporte’s caliber. However, 8.4-inch infotainment screens are now featured on Dodge and Chrysler products as well. It is just that the one in the Quattroporte looks like it should belong in a Maserati instead of a Chrysler.
The 2017 Maserati Quattroporte also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto like many automobiles available nowadays. This is software that is integrated into most manufacturers infotainment systems.
The interior of the Quattroporte also has a new air quality sensor that helps calculate pollution levels inside the vehicle to protect occupants. A new driver assistance package also includes systems such as adaptive cruise control.
The V6 Quattroporte models are now available in GranLusso or GranSport trim packages. The GranLusso has different bumpers and interior combinations to create a luxury look and feel while in GranSport trim, the emphasis is on a sportier theme.
Changes to the Maserati Quattroporte in the GranSport trim package extend to the exterior of the vehicle in the form of a lower front fascia, red brake calipers, aggressive 21-inch wheels .
For the Maserati Quattroporte V8 GTS models, the GranSport or GranLusso upgrades are standard with V6 and V8 engine offerings, like what was available in 2016.
Let us hope that the mid-cycle refresh to the 2017 Maserati Quattroporte has the desired affect of increasing sales for the company.
