Ford Preparing for Release of 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

Release scheduled for this fall

With the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor scheduled for release later this year, the company is preparing for the event by announcing plans for a six-part video series showing “why the -150 Raptor is the ultimate high performance off-road pickup truck”.

Scheduled to be released monthly leading up to launch, the six-part video series is to focus on key areas including the “F-150 Raptor’s jaw dropping off-road agility and capability”. Filmed in the Mojave Desert, the first video focuses on the truck’s Terrain Management System and BF Goodrich KO2 tires. Future videos will focus on the truck’s design, off-road capability and the truck’s suspension.

Highlights for the 2017 model year Ford F-150 Raptor include an aggressive front bumper, a silver skid plate, and LED headlights. Also new this year are front fender vents, new extended fender flares, and a mesh grille with “Ford” lettering.  The Raptor will be available in either a SuperCrew or SuperCab configuration.

Moving back to the rear of the high-performance truck, there is a new tailgate design, a dual exhaust system, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

There are also big changes under the hood for the 2017 model year. The power plant of the 2017 Rapter is a new EcoBoost V6 engine producing 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. Getting power to the ground is a 10-speed automatic transmission and a new four-wheel drive system incorporating a new torque-on-demand transfer case.
